OpenAthens LA does Reporting

2 February 2012

OpenAthens LA 2.2 contains new features designed to enhance the administrative experience and capability of the product. You can easily set up proxied resources and report on resource usage trends over time.

The latest release of OpenAthens LA is now available for download and install. Exciting new features include visualisations to cover time-based and location-based statistics as well as an integrated proxy service, an improved administrator interface and setup wizards.

Upgrade and you’ll be able to easily report on a variety of system and usage statistics, which will help you manage your resources and make the most from your subscription fees.

Time-based statistics show the variation in usage of services over time, which enables you to make direct comparisons in usage between different services. You can also choose the granularity – either view on a daily basis, or view monthly totals to get more of an overview of usage throughout the year.

Location-based statistics show the spread of usage from different geographic locations. Based on IP address, OpenAthens LA 2.2 will determine the location (down to country-level) of an end-user’s device. This information is then conveniently displayed on a map.

The integrated proxy service will allow access to sites that would otherwise be restricted to on-campus use because of IP authentication. It also enables authentication to sites and resources that do not support OpenAthens, SAML, OpenID or other authentication mechanisms.

Tom Edmonds, OpenAthens Product Manager, comments, "We're really excited about this release. We know customers have been eagerly awaiting the integrated proxy service and we feel the configuration using drag and drop functionality and the site templates provided, will make the task of managing proxied resources simple and quick to use."
