BIS recognised as the best UK Sitecore website in 2010

Sitecore award 2010 overall

10 December 2010

Two websites developed by Eduserv have won awards in the 2010 UK Sitecore Site of the Year awards – with The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) recognised as the overall winner. Eduserv was the development partner for the BIS website, which merged three separate websites into one, enabling them to better serve their users and deliver savings for BIS and its partners of up to £5 million over the next four years.

The new NHS Direct website also won their respective category, “Best Healthcare and Medical Site”. We developed the website working with InferMed Limited (who developed the clinical support decision technology) so that it helps more patients to address their symptoms online – using the intuitive Online Health and Symptom Checkers - reducing the need for patients to visit their GP or an Accident & Emergency unit.

Stephen Butcher, Eduserv’s Chief Executive said “These two website development projects are great best practice examples for Government departments that want to cut costs and make efficiency savings. We have worked with them to ensure their online presence helps them to achieve their business goals, including cutting costs, without compromising on the end user experience. The results have been excellent and I’m delighted they have been recognised by these awards.”

The Sitecore Website of the Year awards recognise organisations that leverage Sitecore’s technology to develop an outstanding web presence and deliver an engaging online experience. Nominations are judged on creativity, integration with rich data sources and applications, the ability to engage, educate and motivate an action, and the overall user experience the site is able to deliver to its visitors.

The previous winner in 2009 was Manchester City football club, which deployed Sitecore’s Web CMS solution to enable their site to support traffic volume surges, take high volumes of transactions and give content editors the ability to maintain the website in real time during games and events.
