Head of Public Cloud

The head of public cloud will lead customer initiatives on AWS and Azure in collaboration with the wider public cloud business unit (architecture & operations) and broader business teams.

The head of public cloud is both the leader of the public cloud business unit and a technical resource who is accountable for the end-to-end customer solution design plus its operation.

The ideal head of public cloud will demonstrate:
  • a collaborative leadership approach
  • a natural entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for all facets of cloud technology
  • intellectual curiosity as evidenced by:
    • a strong motivation to stay abreast of technical advances
    • a drive towards continual self-development
  • a strong customer service orientation as evidenced by:
    • the ability to lead deep technical cloud architecture discussions with peers and clients, adapting communication styles according to the audience
    • the ability to quickly establish credibility and trust with key stakeholders internally and externally
    • the ability to drive service excellence through outcome focused planning
    • the ability to provide insightful reporting and datasets for multiple audiences
  • the ability to drive decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through
  • the ability to develop a new service support model focused on the rapidly evolving public cloud market.
They will also have an in-depth knowledge of:
  • cloud computing technologies, cloud analytics, automation, machine learning/AI, business drivers, and emerging computing trends
  • either Microsoft Azure or AWS to support both customers and internal conversations as required
  • cloud operational characteristics and management approaches
  • extant and emerging subscription & consumption based commercial models
They will have significant experience of:
  • working in a customer facing environment, with both operational and architecture responsibilities
  • effectively leading multi-disciplined teams
  • architecture, design and implementation of end user environments based upon both public and hybrid clouds
  • working in a PRINCE2, MSP or Agile environment with multiple product organisations
  • building deep technical relationships with senior stakeholders both internal and external
  • developing and implementing chargeback mechanisms
  • developing integration strategies and approaches for disparate client and operational needs
  • monitoring performance against both operational and fiscal targets
Minimum certifications:

ITIL v3 foundation

AWS Certified Solution Architect – Professional

AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate

MCSE Cloud Platform & Infrastructure
