Collaboration with academic groups
To keep up to date with the changing software and data licensing needs of the academic community and industry trends Eduserv works collaboratively with a number of organisations
Eduserv has worked collaboratively with the following organisations:
UCISA Software Procurement Group
Howard Moody of Eduserv is a member of the UCISA Software Procurement Group, a sub group of UCISA's Procurement Group. The Software Procurement Group provides sustained and valuable support to Eduserv and is actively engaged with us and a number of important software providers. This helps to ensure that the requirements of the university and college community are heard and the group acts as a focal point for sharing issues in the wider community.
We worked in close partnership with the group to deliver the Adobe Master CLP Chest Agreement. This is a very significant agreement offering savings in excess of £1,000,000 per annum to universities and colleges in addition to reduced complexity and administration when managing orders.
For more information about the group please see www.ucisa.ac.uk/groups/pg/software.aspx
Academic Applications Forum (AAF)
The Academic Applications Forum offers the HE and FE communities an informal way to learn from colleagues’ experiences of providing applications software in their institutions. Eduserv takes part in all the meetings and draws on the experience of the group to support our negotiations for software agreements.
The Forum meets three times a year to discuss technical and licensing issues and has its own mailing list aaf@jiscmail.ac.uk.
The next AAF meeting is on 7 July 2010.
JIBS User Group
Eduserv takes part in meetings and events arranged by this user group. The group provides members with an independent forum to discuss online services of interest to the HE and FE communities bringing matters of concern to the attention of the data suppliers and the data service providers.
Eduserv will be giving presentations at the upcoming event, “Where next for resource licensing” in London on 16 June 2010.
