This agreement provides a site licence for the Maplesoft product family of advanced mathematical and analytical software. Maple provides a mathematical computation engine with integrated numerics and symbolics.

Eligible Institutions
This Agreement is available to Institutions of Higher and Further Education in the UK and Research Councils in the United Kingdom, and to Higher and Further Education Institutions (Third Level Colleges) in the Republic of Ireland.
Background Information
MapleSoft were offering a site licence to institutions but with no banding (the same fee regardless of the size of the instutution). This site licence did not allow for remote access. The community expressed an interest for Eduserv to negotiate an Agreement which takes into account size of institutions an which provides provision for remote access.Supplier Details

Eduserv fee is £250 plus VAT per annum (no banding).
Licences commence for 3 years from the date of countersignature of the licence by Adept.
Pricing is fixed for three years of a site's licence - however pricing under the contract is subject to annual review. Any increases to be notified to Eduserv by the last working day of the "tenth month" of the Agreement year. Costs may rise by no more than the then current annual RCI as published by the Office for National Statistics.
Price banding in the UK is based on JISC bands: http://www.jisc-collections.ac.uk/jisc_banding.aspx :
Large: JISC bands A-C and all Research Councils
Medium: JISC bands D-F
Small: JISC bands G-H
Very Small: JISC bands I-J
Third level colleges in the Republic of Ireland have been placed in similar bands based on their full time equivalent student numbers. See: Ireland Price Bands
Payment Terms
On receipt of a completed Licence, Sites will be invoiced by Adept for the first year of the licence. For each subsequent year, Sites will be invoiced one month in advance of the anniversary date of the Agreement. Purchase orders and payments for the licence fee must be made out to "Adept Scientific plc". Invoices are payable within 30 calendar days of the date of invoice.
Price is fixed at time of sign-up to the Agreement for the full term of the 3-year licence.
Sites may, if they wish, pay a single charge to Adept to cover their commitment period (3 years).
The Chest Fee is payable to Eduserv. Purchase orders should be made out to 'Eduserv' for this element of the licence only

Commitment Period
Institutions may participate at any time during the 5 year period; however, they will be bound by the terms and conditions, including payments for three years from their enrolment.

Licence Type
This Site licence is subject to Standard Eduserv terms and conditions for Software with special terms and conditions of use Schedule 4, Part 3 - Special Licence Conditions (RTF, 219 Kb) .
Copying of the Software is allowed at any Institution for use by any member of staff or student in accordance with the special conditions ( Schedule 4, Part 3 - Special Licence Conditions (RTF, 219 Kb) ). It is a rental licence.
Termination Clauses
At the end of the agreement period sites must remove the Maple and /or Maple T.A. software, along with any add-ons, from their systems.

Personal Licences
Maple can be accessed from personal computers by students using a thin client network (e.g. Citrix, etc) or using remote access software (e.g. PCAnywhere, etc) only if the Student Distirbution Extension has been purchased.
If the Student Distribution Extension has not been purchased then students may purchase a Personal Licence for £65 (excluding delivery and VAT) directly from Adept Scientific.
Academic staff can apply for a free home use licence for Maple and the Maple Toolboxes by applying to Adept Scientific who will issue a single user Purchase Code.

This agreement does not include the provision of training and
training materials other than the built-in examples. Group training is
available from Adept Scientific at normal rates.
