IET eBooks
The IET eBooks collection contains over 300 books in the areas of control engineering, telecommunications, circuits, devices and systems, power and energy, renewable energy, electrical technology and professional applications of computing. Books are included from 1979 onwards and new titles will be added in 2012. Each book is searchable and all eBooks are available free of DRM restrictions.

Eligible Institutions
This Agreement is availabe to HE and FE institutions in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Research Councils and selected Associated Sites.
Background Information
The IET have recently launched their eBook collection and Eduserv are pleased to be able to offer the package of books at a significant discount. The IET expect the eBooks platform to be launched on 20 September 2011.

Updates
The IET eBooks purchased through the Chest Agreement will include all 280 titles published back to 1979, as well as any titles published in 2011 and 2012. Titles are purchased in perpetuity.
Pricing
The list price if all 300+ titles were to be purchased individually would be over £19,000. The list price from The IET for the complete package of titles is £13,350. Significant discounts are provided to sites purchasing through this Chest Agreement from Eduserv.

Payment Terms
This Agreement is of 2 years duration, commencing 1st September 2011 and terminating on 31st August 2013. Institutions may sign up to the Agreement at any time during that period and will pay a one-off fee for all eBooks in the collection and those published during 2011 and 2012. There is no pro-rata charging and the eBooks are purchased in perpetuity.
All Purchase Orders must be made out to Eduserv and Eduserv's invoices must be paid within 30 calendar days of the date of the invoice.
Agreement Period
Start date: 1 September 2011 End date: 31 August 2013
Institution Commitment Period
Perpetual access can be purchased for a one-off fee up until 31 August 2013.
How to Order
The IET eBooks
(perpetual access, one-off fee):
1. One original copy is required of the: IET eBooks Licence Form (PDF, 539 Kb)
2. An Institution Purchase Order for the full amount due plus VAT, made out to "Eduserv".

Who can use the resource?
Authorised Users
'Authorised User' means a type of user who is a currently registered student of the Licensee, a faculty member or an employee of the Licensee, in each case authorised by the Licensee to access the Licensee's library and information services whether from a computer or terminal on the Licensee's Secure Network or offsite via a Secure Access Management System or, in the case of Licensed Materials, access to the Licensee's onsite library facilities. Other Permitted Users:
Means the following catergories of User are permitted to have access tothe Products via a Licensee's library and information services whether from a computer terminal on the Licensee's Secure Network or offsite via a Secure Access Management System or via the Licensee's onsite library facilities:
- students undertaking a course of study leading to a qualification awarded by the Licensee;
- teachers of Authorised Users and librarians involved in their instruction and support who are not employed by the Licensed Institution
- retired members of staff of a Licensed Institution
- visiting academics, researchers and research supervisors from other educational or research establishments if they are working there on a recognised programme, or exchange;
- visiting students from other educational establishments if studying there on a recognised programme, or exchange;
Alumni Prohibited: This Agreement DOES NOT permit such use.
Walk-In Users Allowed: Walk-In User means a person other than an Authorised User who is permitted to access the secure network of the Licensed Institutions only via a computer or terminal within the Licensed User's premises. The licence IET Digital Library permits such use. Allowed Not Allowed | |

What can authorised users do?
The resource can be used for
• teaching
• research
• personal educational development
• administration and management of the business of the Licensee's organisation
• development work associated with any of the above
Exclusions;
• Use the product for commercial purposes (i.e. monetary gain) or for any purpose other than educational use
• Work of direct benefit to the employer of students on industrial placement
• Non-authorised users; they must not be given access, print or download the resource(s) or allowed to make a copy of any licensed materials
• Downloading of large amounts of material that might be considered "systematic"
Termination Clauses
Access to The IET eBooks is perpetual, after paying the one-off fee. Service provision charges may be payable on an annual basis but this is a matter between the IET and the licensed institution.
Personal Licences
Personal Licences are not available under this Agreement.
Login Information
Perpetual access to the IET eBooks will be via the IET Digital Library (IDL) platform. A small annual Service Provision Fee will apply to sites that choose to receive the access through the IDL platform -- however, this charge may not apply to sites who already possess a Licence from the IET to access the IET Digital Library through the IDL platform. Eduserv shall have no responsibility to the IET or to the Licensed Institution (site) for the invoicing and collection of any Service Provision Fee, which shall be a matter solely between the IET and the Licensed Institution.
