Once a user has registered on ‘My Profile' they can create a range of customised features, including: RSS Feeds; Saved Search Alerts, ToC Alerts and Weekly Digests of subscribed or all journals; create Marked Lists; and subscribe to Emerald Newsletters. There are a range of communities for different end-users (authors, librarians, researchers, teachers) which offer interactive participation.

The frequency of updates will vary with each journal title but all are included in the cost.

Alterations/Additions

All additions (newly launched titles) will be incorporated at no additional charge to EMeJ Plus. All new functionality of the Emerald platform is included for all products at no additional cost.

Payment Terms

On receipt of a completed Order, Institutions will be invoiced for the Agreement year in which the Licence is signed.

In subsequent years, institutions will be invoiced three months in advance of the anniversary date of the Agreement, on 1 October 2012 and 1 October 2013.

There is monthly pro-rata charging for institutions which become licensed partway through a licence year.

All Purchase Orders must be made out to 'Eduserv' and Eduserv's invoices must be paid within 30 calendar days of the date of the invoice.

Agreement Period

Start date: 01 January 2012 End date: 31 December 2014

Institution Commitment Period

This Agreement is of 3 years duration. Institutions may join the agreement at any time during the agreement period. They will then be committed to the end of the Agreement Period from the date of issue of the Licence unless they give notice to Eduserv before 15 September 2012 for renewals from 1 January 2013 and 15 September 2013 for renewals from 1 January 2014.

One copy of the FE Order Form (PDF, 585 Kb)  is required. You can use the same form to order other Emerald products.

What institutions and library services are allowed to do?

The Core Licence allows the following activities;

Who can use the resource?

The Core Licence allows use by all Authorised Users, defined as Students, Staff and Walk-in Users – [see Licence Terms 1.1(a)(i)/(ii)/(iii)]

Students are people undertaking education or research who are included in the Licensee’s (and not any other party’s) report to government authorities of student numbers tick icon

What can authorised users do?

The resources can be used for Educational Purposes – see Licence Term 1.1(b):

  • education
  • teaching 
  • distance learning 
  • private study 
  • academic research
  • administration and management of the Licensee’s educational or research operations

Exclusions

  • See Licence Term 3 for exclusions and restrictions
  • The resources may not be used for anything other than Educational Purposes unless the Licence Extension for Commercial Projects has been bought; this allows use for the restricted “Commercial Projects” defined – see Annex B of the Licence (Licence Extension for Commercial Projects) and prices.
  • Downloading of large amounts of material by authorised users that might be considered ‘systematic’.

Termination Clauses

The Licensee may retain an electronic copy of the Licensed Material in its archives for reference only. Copies of parts of the Licensed Material already made and/or used by the Licensee or Authorised Users in accordance with clause 2.2 may be retained and used in accordance with the terms of this Licence Agreement – see Licence Term 10.5.

The Licensee retains the right to the material published in the year in which they subscribed. This will continue to be accessed from the Emerald platform and no access fee applies.

Personal Licences

Personal Licences are not available under this Agreement.

Copying of hardcopy and electronic documentation is permitted for staff and registered students and other permitted users except Alumni.

Alumni specifically:

Where additional access has been subscribed to for Alumni (who have access to subscribing library’s facilities) they may copy parts of both hardcopy and electronic for personal use only and may not distribute it without requesting permission through either Rightslink or emailing permissions@emeraldinsight.com.
