This is a three year and one month Agreement commencing on 1 July 2006 and terminating on 31 July 2009. This extra month will allow an alternative renewal date of 1 August each year instead of 1 July, which will fall into line with the start of the academic year. Institutions may participate at any time during the life of the Agreement, and will be bound until the end of it; that is, to 31 July 2009.
This Agreement is available to Chest Sites of Higher and Further Education, Universities and Third Level Colleges in the Republic of Ireland and those Associated Sites approved by ESRI.
If your institution is an Associated Site, please contact Eduserv Help to find out if you are eligible to purchase under the Agreement.
In January 1990, the then IUSC's Graphics Working Party investigated whether a software deal in the area of image processing and analysis could be recommended to Chest. The motivation behind this initiative was derived from the fact that it was becoming possible to carry out image processing on lower cost workstations. There was an interest in image processing throughout many disciplines including;
Remote Sensing
Microscopy
Medical Imaging
Astronomy
Radar
Vision
This product, ERDAS IMAGINE™ resulted from that review and the UCSG Graphics Working Party produced AGOCG Technical Report 17 - Image Processing Software Evaluation Report, dated January 1993.
The original Agreement was negotiated in 1992/3 and extended in 1999 with additional products being added. This is the third extension and will take the Agreement into 2009.
