Licence Information

1. Agreement Details

This Overview represents the detail of the formal Agreement which exists between Eduserv and OCLC. The following sections are written to enable Institutions to make a decision as to whether or not the product is appropriate for their needs.

1.5 Agreement & Site Commitment Periods

This agreement commences on 1 March 2010 and terminates on 28 February 2013.
Institutions may participate at any time during the period and will be bound until the end of the Agreement at 28 February 2013.

2. Eligible Institutions

This Agreement is available to Higher and Further Education Institutions in the UK and the Republic or Ireland, Research Councils in the UK and to Eduserv Associated Sites.

4. Product Description

From the OCLC website:

WebDewey offers easy-to-use, World Wide Web-based access to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and related information, with searching and browsing capabilities; Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) intellectually and statistically mapped to Dewey numbers; and links from the mapped LCSH to the corresponding LCSH authority records. You can also add your own notes to WebDewey and display them in context, which allows you to both record valuable information about local classification practices and have it available for ready reference.

5. Licence Type

This is not a standard Chest Agreement.  Please make sure to read the WebDewey License Terms carefully before subscribing.

6. Personal Licences

Personal Licences are not available under this Agreement.

7. Post Termination of Agreement Period

After termination of the Agreement, institutions may continue to use DDC numbers which were added to materials or electronic resources during the term of the Agreement.  In the event of a failure to renew this Agreement or termination of this Agreement, institutions are obliged to: (i) discontinue use of and disable access to WebDewey; (ii) remove Browsers and the DDC22 Summaries from its website; (iii) destroy all copies of data; and (iv) certify to OCLC in writing of its compliance.

8. Alterations/Additions to Databases and New Functionality

OCLC shall periodically make updates to the data accessible via WebDewey, using its reasonable efforts to make these updates available on a quarterly basis.

11. Background Detail/Community Evaluation

Eduserv and OCLC have a longstanding relationship, backed by demand from the community.

12. Institution Evaluation

All eligible Eduserv Institutions may evaluate WebDewey or Abridged WebDewey for a period of 30 days, free of charge, by registering with Eduserv. In order to access the service for evaluation, one fully-executed original Institution Licence Schedule must be returned to Eduserv clearly indicating that a trial is required.

Institutions may copy documention for internal use.

OCLC has a free tutorial on how to use WebDewey available on its website: http://www.oclc.org/dewey/resources/tutorial/

OCLC also makes Dewey Cutter Software available free of charge at the following url: http://www.oclc.org/dewey/support/program . Use of the Dewey Cutter Software provides access to the OCLC Four-Figure Cutter Tables and requires agreement to applicable terms contained in the free software download.

There is no prorata pricing available.

25. Payment Terms

This Agreement commences on 1 March 2010 and terminates on 28 February 2013. Institutions may sign to the Agreement at any time during that period, but having signed will be commited until the end of it.

On receipt of a completed Licence, Institutions will be invoiced for the Agreement year in which the Licence is signed.

All Purchase Orders must be made out to OCLC (UK) Ltd and paid within 30 calendar days of the date of the invoice.

26. How to Order

Please complete all parts of the Licence Schedule and return it, including the attached WebDewey License Terms, with a Purchase Order for the full fee plus VAT made payable to “OCLC (UK) Ltd” (not Eduserv), to:
