This Overview represents the detail of the formal Agreement which exists between Eduserv and ProQuest. The following sections are written to enable Institutions to make a decision as to whether or not the product is appropriate for their needs.

This Agreement commences 1 September 2008 and terminates 30 August 2011 Institutions may participate at any time during the period.
This Agreement is available to HE institutions in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Research Councils and selected Chest "Associated Sites".

Site licence with normal Eduserv Chest terms and conditions.
Personal Licences are not available under this Agreement.
Access is granted only during the term of the subscription. No archival access is granted after termination or at end of subscription.
Material downloaded during the Agreement can continue to be used under the same licence conditions as pertain while the Agrement exists.
The databases are updated at least monthly with some being updated weekly.
Database content goes back to 1952 for certain files. Additions and enhancements to the content are included under this agreement at no additional cost. Improvements to the interface may be made from time to time throughout the agreement and any additional functionality will be included without further charge.
Authorised Users
"Authorised Users" means a type of User who is a currently registered student of the Licensee, a faculty member or an employee of the Licensee, in each case authorised by the Licensee to access the Licensee's library and information services whether from a computer or termianl on the Licensee's Secure Network or offsite via a Seure Access Management System or, in the case of Licensed Materials, access to the Licensee's onsite library facilities.

Other Permitted Users:
means the following catergories of User that are permitted to have access to the Products via a Licensee's library and information services whether from a computer terminal on the Licensee's Secure Network or offsite via a Secure Access Management System or via the Licensee's onsite library facilities:
Alumni:
For the purposes of this Agreement "Alumni" means former staff and students of an Institution. This Agreement does not permits such use but will be considered at additional charge.
Retired Members of Staff:
For the purposes of this Agreement "Retired Members of Staff" means retired members of staff of a Licensed Institution. This Agreement does not permits such use but will be considered at additional charge.
Walk-In Users:
Walk-In Users means a person other than an Authorised User who is permitted to access the secure network of the Licensed Institutions only via a computer or termianl within the Licensed User's premises
The Licence for ProQuest Subject Collections permits such use.
Inter-Library Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary Loan of Materials retrieved from the Products is allowed provided that the loan is not done in a manner or magnitude that would replace the recipient library's own subscription to either the Products or the purchase of the underlying Work (e.g., newspaper, magazine or book)
Incorporation of parts of the Licensed Work
The licence for ProQuest Subject Collections permits incorporation of parts of the Licensed Work for use by Authorised users in printed an delectronic course packs, study packs, resource lists and in any other material to be used in the courese of instruction and /or in virtual and managed environments hosted on a Secure Network. Allow incorporation in printed or electronic form in assignments and portfolios, theses and in dissertations including reproductions of same for personal use an library deposit.
Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement of the source, listing title and copyright owner.
Electronic Repositories
The licence for ProQuest Subject Collections permits the Licensee to deposit the learning and teaching objects as created above in electronic repositories operated by the Licensee on a Secure Network and in the JORUM Repository.
The access and use of such learning and teaching objects shall be governed by the terms and conditions of the applicable repository.
This is a renewal of an agreement that has been in place since 2005.

Copying of hardcopy and electronic documentation is permitted.
Training is included in the subscription. Train the Trainer sessions can be carried out on site or over the web.

New content is added weekly.
ProQuest Subject Collections is compliant with Bath Profile Z39.50 rules and procedures for communicating between two computer systems for searching and retrieving information from databases specification used.
Counter Compliance
ProQuest Subject Collections is COUNTER compliant.
OpenURL
ProQuest Subject Collections complies with OpenURL standard to format search requests and supply results so that the appropriate copy is returned to the user, usually in the form of a web page.
W3C Standards
ProQuest Subject Collections complies with W3C standards on interoperability.
Access Management
ProQuest Subject Collections uses Athens, OpenAthens & Shibboleth.
Metadata
ProQuest Subject Collections uses controlled vocabulary.
Marc Records
Marc Records are not available for ProQuest Subject Collections.
Federated Searching
ProQuest Subject Collections uses Federated Search Engines and link resolvers therby offering users an alternative route to information resources.
Citations
ProQuest Subject Collections allows the use to export directly to RefWorks, ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager.
Alerts
Journal alerts and search alerts delivered via email or RSS feed are available for new content added to ProQuest Subject Collections.
Personalisation
Personalisation features are available through the My Research area ProQuest Subject Collections on the Illumina platform.

Monthly pro-rata charging is available for sites joining part way through an agreement year.
Further Discounts
Discounts are available if you subscribe to more than one collection:
2 collections - 5% discount
3 collections - 10% discount
4 collections - 20% discount
This Agreement is of 3 years duration, commencing 1 September 2008 and terminating 31 August 2011. Institutions may sign to the Agreement at any time during that period, but having signed will be commited till the end of it.
On receipt of a completed Licence, Institutions will be invoiced for the Agreement year in which the Licence is signed.
For the subsequent year, Institutions will be invoiced three months in advance of the anniversary date of the Agreement, on 1 June 2009 and 1 June 2010. There is monthly pro-rata charging of the data fee for Institutions which become licensed partway through a licence year.
All Purchase Orders must be made out to Eduserv and Eduserv's invoices must be paid within 30 calendar days of the date of the invoice.
One original signed copy of the Schedule 4 (Licence) is required:
When completed the form should be returned along with an Institution Purchase Order for the full amount due plus VAT, made out to 'Eduserv'.
