Licence Information 

1. Agreement Details

This Overview represents the detail of the formal Agreement which exists between Eduserv and Springer. The following sections are written to enable Institutions to make a decision as to whether or not the product is appropriate for their needs.

1.3 Agreement & Site Commitment Periods

This is an Agreement commencing 1 August 2007 and terminating on 31 July 2010.
Sites can purchase the products in perpetuity at any time during the period.

2. Eligible Institutions

This Agreement is available to UK Higher and Further Education Sites, Associated sites in the Republic of Irelandand Norwegian Sites

4. Licence Type

Perpetual site licence with normal Eduserv Chest terms and conditions of use. Downloading of the Data is allowed at any institution for use by any member of staff or student in accordance with the "Code of Conduct" for use of Software or Data.  Personal licences are not available.

5. Post Termination of Agreement Period

All material purchased before the agreement expiry may continue to be used under the same licence conditions as pertain while the agreement exists. Access to the material via SpringerLink is granted to purchasers at no additional ongoing charge.

6. Alterations/Additions to Databases and New Functionality

Additional volumes are produced from time to time.  Titles offered under the Chest Agreement will be reviewed every six months until expiry.

7. Location and Use Permissions

Authorised Users:

Authorised users are currently registered students, faculty members or employees of the Licensed Institution, who are authorised by the licensee to access the licensee's information services whether from a computer or terminal on the licensee's secure network or offsite via a secure access management system.

Note: The granting of an Athens username and password is not a right to use in itself.

Permitted:

Distance Learning:
Permitted for authorised users
Honorary Members of Staff: Permitted for authorised users, except where the user was doing so in pursuit of their non-academic activity
Remote Access within UK / Eire: Permitted for authorised users
Remote Access Overseas: Permitted for authorised users

Prohibited:

Alumni: Prohibited, except where the graduate again qualifies under the terms as an authorized user (as a student or employee of the institution)
Retired Members of Staff: Prohibited, except in the instance where the retired employee becomes an Authorized User
Walk-In Users: Prohibited. However, it is generally acknowledged that licensed institutions may be unable to segregate public or library computers from the rest of the network and that occasional walk-in, public use may occur. 
People from Industry: Prohibited
Student Placement in Industry: Prohibited where use benefits the employer

8. Institution Evaluation

60 day trials are available from the Springer site at Metapress. In order to activate trial access please send an email to Monique van de Kamp at SpringerLink.

9. Product Documentation

Marketing material, in both electronic and printed form can be provided. All content is online.

10. Right to Copy Documentation

Copying of Licensed Materials is permitted.

11. Training and Training Materials

Springer offers Webinars, online training over the Internet. Please contact Monique.vandekamp@springer.com for details of dates available or check at www.springerlink.com under librarians.  

12. Initial Consultancy/Support

14. Updates

There are no updates to the content. The volumes offered are purchased to licence in perpetuity. New volumes in the series my be added to this agreement but must be licensed separately at additional charge.

15. Access to Service and Downloading

When the Licence is signed by the Site and returned to Eduserv Chest, Springer will be notified and access to the licensed product(s) will be given. The Administration contact, as nominated on the Licence, is notified by email and access should be granted within 2-4 working days.

Licensed Sites and their authorised End Users may print or download full or partial results of the searches of, and data in the licensed product(s) subject to the terms and conditions in the Licence. (See Downloading Policy in Appendix C to Schedule 4).

16. Access Registration Procedures

Once the licences have been received by Springer from Eduserv Chest the Licensed Site will be contacted by Springer with information about how to access the service.

17. Pricing

Products may be ordered individually but orders must total a minimum of £2,000 before VAT.

18. Payment Terms

On receipt of a completed Licence, Institutions will be invoiced for the products chosen as detailed on the Licence Schedule 4 Form.  Pro-rata charging may be available on a case-by-case basis. All payments must be made to "EDUSERV" within 30 calendar days of the date of invoice.

19. How to Order

Two original copies of the Licence Schedule 4 Form are required and should be returned, without the Licence Terms, to Eduserv Chest:
