Eduserv Tutor Guides for Vocational Education

The Eduserv Tutor Guides for Vocational Education programme provides support for the dissemination of good practice in further education, via grants to Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) for the development of online guides for tutors.

Eduserv Tutor Guides focus on the learning outcomes of specific qualifications and will help tutors embed ICT into their delivery of the vocational curriculum. The guides will be available for use throughout FE, and will be constructed to allow adaptation to local conditions and teaching requirements.

2003/2004 programme - two CoVEs are currently developing Tutor Guides supported by funding from Eduserv.

2004/2005 programme - two further CoVEs joined the programme.

Eduserv developed the Tutor Guides for Vocational Education programme within the context of the FE CoVE network and in conjunction with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), the Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA), and the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).

The CoVE initiative is sponsored and implemented by the LSC. CoVEs are intended to meet local, regional and/or national skill needs, working in close partnership with employers and delivering Level 3 skills (roughly equivalent to A-levels) to those in work and those seeking work.

The subject scope of CoVEs extends across the core specialist development (SDG) groups of:

The number of CoVEs has grown year on year and a number of colleges now have more than one CoVE.
