This document is designed to provide guidance to staff on Eduserv-funded projects about how to acknowledge Eduserv. It is accepted that every project is different and that the method of acknowledgement suggested may not be appropriate in all situations.
The general text which should be used to acknowledge Eduserv depends on Eduserv’s role in the project. Most projects can be covered by one of the following three options:
"Funded and supported" should be used in situations where Eduserv is contributing more than funding to the project (e.g. server support or software development). "Part-funded" should be used in cases where there is more than one funder.
The Eduserv logos which should be used by projects can be obtained from http://www.eduserv.org.uk/foundation/grants/acknowledgingeduserv/logos. These logos should only be used in off-line situations. Web pages and other online materials should link to the Eduserv logo as described below.
The project Web site should clearly acknowledge that Eduserv’s role in the project and should link to the Eduserv Foundation home page using one of the forms of text above as follows:
In addition the project Web site should have the Eduserv logo clearly visible on all significant access points. The logo should link to the Eduserv Foundation home page, as follows:
This will appear as follows:

If more appropriate to your Web design, either of the following forms of logo may be used instead.
This will appear as follows:

All research papers should contain text near the start, acknowledging Eduserv as the funder. This should be done as follows:
Eduserv should be contacted before any press releases are made so that the final wording can be agreed.
Please note that text along the lines of:
should be included in the press release. In addition, the following text should be included at the end of the press release:
About Eduserv
Eduserv is a unique, self funding registered charity with the mission to realise the benefits of ICT for learning and research. Eduserv has an in-depth understanding of education and is driven by the needs of the community to deliver real benefits and save significant sums of money each year. Services include:
Trading surpluses are "gift-aided" to the parent charity to support the work of the Eduserv Foundation in the education sector.
If a presentation is given about an Eduserv-funded project, we suggest that the Eduserv logo should appear on the first and the last slide. In addition there should be text acknowledging Eduserv on one slide of the presentation. We have prepared a short PPT file to show how this should be done.
Where possible, software, audio and video resources funded by Eduserv should contain the Eduserv logo and a written or oral acknowledgement based on the examples above.
If a series of discrete resources are produced and are likely to be accessed independently (for example a learning object within a repository or a series of Web-based exercises that may be linked into external sources), each discrete resource should acknowledged in the manner suggested above.
In cases where a project is receiving joint funding from Eduserv and another organisation, we expect that for all the forms of output described above the Eduserv logo should appear at the same points as the other organisation’s logo.
