Working with Eduserv Chest
Suppliers and Resellers of Data, Software, Training Materials and other IT-related products: discover the benefits of working with Eduserv Chest.
If you have products that you wish to sell into the HE and FE sector in the UK and Ireland then making an arrangement with Eduserv Chest may well prove to be the best way forward. Chest generally has three kinds of arrangement which are summarised below:
-
Directory Entry. If you simply want to provide a product at an educational price then the simplest way is to seek a directory entry. For entries that are accepted Chest will communicate the fact of the entry to the community and the entry will be retrieved when purchasers search the directory. This is provided by Chest as a service to the community and at no cost to the supplier. Complete and return a Directory Entry Form if you would like to have a directory entry.
-
Special Offer. These apply when a product is made available at a particularly attractive price. Special Offers have a lot more prominence than directory entries: they are individually listed with full information on our web site. Special Offers are announced to the entire community.
-
Chest Agreement. These agreements are usually for 3 or 5 years, almost all being for site licences, where all the staff and students of an institution may use the products covered with no cost other than a single, fixed annual fee. These agreements provide continuity for the community and provide the supplier with a guaranteed and steady income. Just as with Special Offers, Agreements are supported with full documentation on our web site, announcements to the community and an email list.
Special Offers and Agreements are listed directly on the
Datapage, or the
Software page, or the
Training & Courseware page as appropriate, with full information hosted on the Chest web site. They both involve a contractual relationship with Chest and will only be entered into if we are satisfied that the pricing and product would be of enough interest to the community that there would be a reasonable take-up. We would recommend that you look at similar products to your own for which Special Offers or Agreements are already available. If you want to have a Special Offer or Agreement then complete an
Overview Form and we will sound out the community's interest in the products and pricing that you are proposing and take matters from there.
Access to many data agreements is authenticated via Athens. The Athens Access Management System is the de-facto standard for secure access management to online subscription services for the UK Education and Health sectors - it currently holds 2 million user accounts. Athens provides secure access both on and off campus, single sign on capability and devolved administration to enable sites to manage their user accounts. Further information about Athens can be found at www.athensams.net/. A list of services authenticated by Athens is available at http://www.athensams.net/allresources.aspx
