Our current Chest Agreement with Kaspersky for their anti-virus software is being revised to include a new product package: Kaspersky Total Space Security.  Total Space Security includes all the functionality of the Enterprise Space range as well as Internet Gateway protection and Kaspersky Mobile Security.  We will provide details soon.

Advance notice of an ESRI Technical Event

ESRI, providers of geographic information system (GIS) technology, will be holding a Technical Event on Thursday 18 September at LeedsUniversity.  All licensed sites are invited to attend.  Others, who are considering licensing ESRI software, will be welcome too.  Please put the date in your diary.  Programme details will be available over the next couple of weeks but it is likely that the event will focus on the new version ArcGIS 9.3 as well as some other products.

 

News from ESRI about ArcGIS v9.13

Release of ArcGIS version 9.3 is taking place in the UK in July.  There will be a phased release to Eduserv customers and you will all receive their software by the end of August.

 

News of the renewal of the ER-Mapper Agreement

The agreement for the geospatial image processing software ER-Mapper is to be renewed.  ER-Mapper is now owned by ERDAS and on renewal the software will be supplied by Infoterra, distributor of ERDAS products in the UK and Ireland.  We anticipate that the terms and conditions will remain the same as the current agreement.  As soon as we have more information we will contact sites that are currently licensed.

 

Invitation to GeoImaging User Group Conference 2008

Infoterra has extended an invitation to a user group conference on 29 - 30 September at St. Anne's College, OxfordUniversity.

 

Licensees of ERDAS Imagine, the group of software tools designed to process geospatial imagery, will find the conference of particular interest.

Please note: Infoterra are now sole agents in the UK and Ireland for ERDAS Imagine and on renewal of the Eduserv agreement after 31 July 2009, Infoterra will supply the software to licensed sites.  ESRI will continue its commitment to provide software and support to sites licensed under the Chest Agreement until 31 July 2009.  ESRI are working with Leica Geosystems and Infoterra to ensure that the transition is managed smoothly.  We will keep sites informed on the progress of this renewal.

 

News about Adobe

Following the concerns raised by many members of the Community, Eduserv, in conjunction with the UCISA Software Procurement Group and with feedback from the Academic Applications Forum, has been pressing Adobe to re-instate Adobe Acrobat Standard edition on to the Academic CLP Price List. Discussions have involved Adobe's Vice President (Worldwide Education) as well as more local representatives - we hope to have some news soon.
