2. Federated Access Management choices

Many institutions are still undecided about their options to access protected online resources in the next academic year. Around 260 institutions have joined the UK Access Management federation and almost 30% of these have registered an IdP. Since the end of Jan 2008 135 institutions have committed to subscribe to OpenAthens and participate in the federation from 1st Aug 2008.

Institutions that wish to subscribe to OpenAthens should complete the a

commitment form and return it by mail, fax, or email.

Institutions seeking help and advice in evaluating their options for participating in the federation should call 01225 474380 or email

Our latest federated access management seminar is scheduled for Wednesday 21st May in Leeds. The Eduserv team will present the options open to institutions, the benefits of outsourcing engagement with the federation and new developments for Athens administrators. The programme will be of direct interest to anyone involved in federated access management (Athens Administrators, Learning Resource Staff, IT staff).
