Final details are planned to be published on the Eduserv Chest web site during week commencing 2nd June 2008.

We have arranged an extended 60 day trial period with all service providers so that current and potential subscribers can see the benefits of each interface and have the opportunity to road test them.  To take advantage of this offer please complete the Trial Request Formand return via email to nikki.green@eduserv.org.uk with subject "APA Trial".

The renewal is structured in much the same way as the original agreement it is replacing.

There will be 5 products available:

PsycARTICLES
Full-text professional and academic articles from 60 scholarly journals in psychology and related disciplines published by APA, Hogrefe Publishing Group, the Canadian Psychological Association and APA’s Educational Publishing Foundation. This wide range of fields includes medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, and communications, among others.

Updated as often as daily, it includes all material from the print journals with the exception of non-article content such as ads, covers, and editorial board lists. The file contains more than 116,000 articles that date back to 1894.

Users can search by key words or take advantage of PsycINFO's extensive and detailed thesaurus for subject searching. In addition, the database is searchable by author, journal title, population type, age group, tests and measures used, and several other categories. Users can also browse by individual journal issues.

PsycINFO
Citations and abstracts to material in the professional and academic literature in psychology and related disciplines. Updated weekly, it covers nearly 2,000 journals in more than 25 languages from 50+ countries and book chapters and books in the English language, as well as dissertations.

PsycBOOKS
Full-text professional and academic books and chapters in psychology and related disciplines. Updated monthly, the database contains more than 700 titles from APA (many of which are out of print), including more than 150 classic books from other publishers, as well as more than 1,500 entries from the APA/Oxford University Press Encyclopaedia of Psychology.

Each chapter record is fully indexed and users can search by key words or take advantage of PsycINFO's extensive and detailed online thesaurus for subject searching. In addition, the database is searchable by author, book or chapter title, population or age groups, tests and measures used, and several other categories. The database can also be browsed by book title, author, and publication year.

PsycEXTRA
Citations and abstracts to gray literature in psychology and related disciplines, as well as full text for the majority of documents (the major exception is material from popular magazines and newspapers). This companion to the scholarly PsycINFO database contains material that is distributed outside the peer-review literature by research institutes, psychology labs, associations; councils; federal, state, and local agencies; foundations; societies; and other professional groups.  Updated bi-weekly, the database includes conference proceedings, technical reports, position papers, datasets, newsletters, consumer brochures, and a host of other materials.

Users may search by key words or take advantage of PsycINFO's extensive and detailed online thesaurus for subject searching. In addition, the database is searchable using a number of other fields: bibliographic data, content owner, abstracts, document type, population and age groups, and so on.

PsycCRITIQUES
Full-text reviews of current books in psychology and the social sciences, as well as professional videos and popular films from a psychological perspective. Releases occasionally include comparative or retrospective book reviews.  Updated weekly, the fully searchable database also includes all reviews published in the print journal Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books between 1956 (Volume 1, Issue 1) and 2004. In addition, it includes several hundred reviews published in an electronic supplement in 2004.

Users can browse the database by author, book or film title, and publication year or can search using key words, PsycINFO's extensive and detailed thesaurus for subject searching, or by other fields, such as reviewed item or review author.

We will be seeking binding commitments from institutions by the end of June in order to pull the consortia for each product together and advise all participants of the final pricing and level of discount.
