Team members answer questions about themselves and their role at Eduserv
Tim Hobday
Bid Co-ordinator
Mainly I monitor the OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union) for tenders that may be of interest to Eduserv, and then I handle the bids for those tenders. I liaise with all the appropriate departments to make sure we get all the information that is being asked for.
I’ve been in this role for nearly three years now, but I started off in a completely different part of the organisation about seven years ago. I came here from university and had intended just to stay for three months – but I liked the people here and I liked the work, so I stayed!
Because Eduserv is a not-for-profit organisation the culture is more about giving clients what they need, rather than thinking about what we can get out of them.
I work in sales, but it’s not all about making the sale – we all have our personal targets but we’re also looking to make the right sort of sales, for us and our clients.
People here are also very friendly, and they are always eager to help you. I’m not especially technical, but if I show an interest in a particular area then I can always get involved.
The skills I’ve learned here are very transferable, and it’s a growing organisation so new opportunities are always coming up to expand your role or move into different areas if you want to.
