Access and Identity Management

We enable organisations to provide users with secure access to online services through a single sign-on identity. The OpenAthens framework supports open standards and provides a cost effective, flexible and fully supported platform for managing access. Millions of individuals worldwide use OpenAthens technology to access protected resources from over 170 international publishers.

Licence Negotiation

Our Licence Negotiation team works on behalf of universities and colleges to provide agreements with preferential terms, conditions and prices for software and data product licences. Over 97% of UK institutions benefit from at least one of our Chest Agreements, saving the UK academic community more than £28 million annually on the cost of software and data products.

Web Development

We help public sector organisations build interactive, accessible and user-friendly websites that meet their online objectives - often in complex environments. We can design, develop, install, host and support your Content Management System. We are a Sitecore CMS solution partner and create websites that can be easily maintained and edited by non-technical staff.

Web Hosting

We provide secure, resilient and energy-efficient hosting services for government and education. Our services range from colocation at our Swindon Data Centre through to fully managed hosting. We can customise our service to suit your needs. Our shared virtualised hosting environment, the Government Ready Platform, has been specifically designed to help government departments and agencies reduce their costs, meet the Green Code of Conduct objectives, increase resilience and enjoy fast and flexible deployment.

Our History

We were founded in 1999 to ensure that assets created through collaborative activities between UK universities were secured for the public good. We now employ over 100 staff at our offices in the World Heritage City of Bath where we aim to provide rewarding careers and a special place to work.

Eduserv is governed by a Board of Trustees who represent the interests of our charitable beneficiaries - learners, researchers and the institutions that serve them.

As a not-for-profit organisation we channel any surplus we make to research and development of services that will benefit our clients today and in the future.
