World eBook Library for universities and colleges
World eBook Library is a collection of 2 million eBooks and audio books for historical research in humanities, sciences and technology. They are fully accessible from any library‘s catalog and downloadable without restrictions. The vast collection features among many others digitised eBook editions of out-of-print books originally published by top ranking universities.
More than 1 million of the titles have been digitally remastered and are only available from the World eBook Library for academic research. These editions preserve the original look of the scanned books and are optimised for download in mobile devices and integration into the library’s catalog. The list comprises the many influential books including titles such as:
Author or Source
Original Book Title
Date of Publication
5th century BC
You can read more about the collection in this one page pdf (PDF, 366 Kb) .
We are seeking expressions of interest in a Chest Agreement for this content. The model under discussion is a one-off fee payable by each consortium member giving each the right to lease all material for 2 years. At the end of this period you can choose a number of titles to own in perpetuity. The number you can choose will be based on the total spend by the consortium.
Proposed one-off pricing (covering two years access to all content) is based on JISC bands.
- £10,000 for Bands A to C
- £7,500 for Bands D to F
- £3,750 for Bands G to J
To arrange a free 30 day trial trial or express interest please contact Nikki Green. We'd like to hear your comments on the proposal by the end of September.
