Access Management
We provide access management products and services in a variety of ways, whether you wish to securely manage the access of your customers to your online web content or manage the access of your own users to web content you already subscribe to [i.e. federate access].
Organisations may wish to federate access to their own resources using a combination of OpenAthens products and services, e.g. OpenAthens LA coupled with OpenAthens SP, or simply manage access to external content using either OpenAthens Local or Managed Authentication.
Publishers or owners of web-based resourses can securely permit access to their resource using OpenAthens SP utilising either the SAML or OpenAthens modules themselves.
Athens Managed Proxy Service
Over 300 academic and medical resources offer Athens authentication into their resources. Unfortunately not all library resources are Athens compliant, so for these we offer a Managed Proxy Service.
We give you an IP address on our proxy server and you simply give that to the vendor to register alongside your own. We will also create any proxied resources that don’t already exist – see the current list. It’s an optional extra which depends on how important the non-Athens compliant resources are for you.
OpenAthens MD
OpenAthens MD is a fully hosted solution that is SAML compliant. It enables access to services within federations such as the OpenAthens Federation and other international access management federations.

OpenAthens LA is a locally-hosted identity and access solution that is SAML compliant. It enables access to services within federations such as the OpenAthens Federation and other international access management federations.
